As a result of another Russian drone bombing, a major fire broke out in the Ukrainian city of Odessa. The house that contained cryptocurrency mining equipment burned down completely. According to the owner, the burned house contained bitcoin mining devices, the so-called Asici, worth more than 120 thousand US dollars.
The fire was quickly extinguished, the expensive equipment is no longer suitable for use. Even repairs in such a situation are unlikely. Despite the fact that these devices are specially designed to operate at high temperatures, they fail without special cooling.
It is not known whether the property was insured. It is also a big question whether this is recognized as an insured event or whether all this falls under the definition of force majeure. In the latter case, insurance companies refuse to pay any funds.
In any case, the war in Ukraine is already directly affecting bitcoin mining. After all, there is a significant amount of such equipment in this country, and the fact that the country has been suffering from regular power outages for more than 3 years directly affects the process of bitcoin mining.
