Bitcoin mining equipment worth $50,000 was stolen from a Chinese restaurant in the capital of Ukraine.
The robbery took place at night, when all the staff were absent. There was no security guard in the restaurant, and the alarm was installed only in the restaurant itself. The bitcoin mining equipment was in the basement. The criminals broke down the doors and were able to take out a whole batch of bitmain antminers within 5 minutes. They were in a hurry and simply loaded the devices into bags, tearing off all the wires connected to the devices.
The owner of the restaurant found out about what happened only in the morning, when his employees came to the restaurant for work. They immediately called the police.
How this story will end remains a mystery. However, the criminals are unlikely to openly sell bitcoin miners, since each device has a serial number. Perhaps they will have to lie low for a long time or start mining bitcoins themselves.
