The heist of the century has taken place in Seoul. These are the headlines that the local press came out with. It turns out that the CFO of one of the companies fell into the trap of clever scammers and transferred over $50 million in cryptocurrency to their address.
It all started when the scammers called an urgent video conference, posing as the CEO of the company. A fake video of the CEO himself was added to this conference, in which he urgently asked to transfer funds to the stated crypto address. The video editing was done very professionally and the victim did not doubt the authenticity of the conversation for a second.
Only a few hours later, after a call from the real CEO demanding to explain where and on whose orders these funds were sent, the whole truth was revealed. The poor CFO was so stunned that he needed medical attention.
Now he is under suspicion and the local police are handling this case. The name of the company and the director are not being disclosed by the police at this time.
