Kyiv is a city where night conceals crimes and truth hides behind smiling masks of friendliness. A city that reveals itself in all its beauty and diversity at night: underground salons, elite brothels, police offices, and dark, old courtyards... Everything breathes with a life full of risk and big money.
Mark Kovalsky, a journalist for the well-known Kyiv magazine Pravda Zhittya, was accustomed to evaluating the effectiveness of his work in numbers and investments in two categories: interest rates and portfolio growth.
In his heart, he believed in the power of words and sought the boundaries of truth between undistorted facts and the illusion of arguments. In real life, he exposed corruption in political and social circles and combined the work of editors of the “Crypto Currency News and Investment Projects” and “Crime Chronicles” departments. In addition, once a year, he gave lectures to students on this topic and on modern investing as a strategy for stability.
When a series of strange murders linked to the sexual rituals of influential people began in the city, Mark was drawn into the investigation with an unreliable Bitcoin declaration. And only later did he realize that the 7711 BTC declaration was just the tip of the iceberg...
It all started after information about a string of similar murders began to appear regularly in Kyiv's closed criminal chronicles. Women from different walks of life, with different occupations and places of residence, are dying in similar circumstances, and the police are only pretending to investigate these cases.
Against his will, the journalist gets involved in this investigation and learns from his own sources that the story of the disappearance of women under the age of 45 is related to the story of the concealment of BTC assets. And this whole financial, political, and perverted story threatens not only his career...
Pulling strings within the investigation, Mark begins to search for information and dig around the outskirts of the city: in brothels, salons, hotels. Everywhere where there might be clues to the truth. His observations and conversations with completely different people all lead to unexpected discoveries. And behind them is a network of connections and corruption involving the police, representatives of the political elite, and the church.
After examining the facts and talking to witnesses, he comes to the conclusion that it is not just a maniac behind these murders. Each of the witnesses is hiding something. The deeper Kowalski delves into the subject, the more difficult it becomes to distinguish truth from lies and fakes. Only now has he begun to realize the deep abyss of social degradation.
After a series of published reports, some of the guilty parties still escaped punishment, and some of the victims remained forgotten. Markz came to the conclusion that the truth is a dangerous thing, and justice is not always possible.
