It's as if the world has gone back 200 years, when the Mediterranean was dominated by pirates from North Africa. Back then, the pirate capital was Carthage, and it was feared and revered by all the countries of the Mediterranean. It was the pirates from today's Tunisia who sacked Rome in the fifth century, marking the beginning of the collapse of the great Roman Empire. Later, pirates from Morocco and Libya terrified all European countries with access to the sea. Their ships reached not only England but also Iceland.
Last weekend, a pirate attack was carried out on a yacht off the coast of Italy. The pirates did not take things or even cash from vacationers. They were only interested in the crypto wallets of the ship's owners. At gunpoint, the owner of the yacht and his wife transferred all their crypto savings to the pirates of the 21st century, after which the latter disappeared on their speedboat.
According to the police, the pirates knew exactly who to attack, so this robbery is considered a contract robbery. Moreover, the other guests of the yacht were not harmed at all.
And so the circle of history closed. After 1700 years, pirate raids returned to the shores of Italy. But modern pirates do not take slaves, but rob crypto wallets.
