The widespread belief that travellers from rich countries behave in a civilised manner often does not stand up to scrutiny. Usually, these travellers arrive with their own ideas about generally accepted norms. But they completely ignore the laws and traditions of the countries they are visiting.
Americans: arrogance and the desire to impose their rules
Arrogance and the desire to impose their rules everywhere — this is said about travellers from the United States. Americans usually ignore the vast majority of hotel and restaurant rules. In addition, they take things from rooms and mini-bars. They are guilty of petty theft. They often lose things, bank cards and even crypto wallets. Moreover, they often lose their passwords and all their passwords. In addition, tourists themselves often get lost, believing that ‘American English’ is understood by everyone around them.
British people: loss of control and subordination after drinking alcohol
The main problem with tourists from Great Britain is a complete loss of control after drinking alcohol. The British drink everything they can get their hands on. They often do this to recoup at least some of the money spent on the trip. In addition, they can often be seen jumping naked into swimming pools from hotel balconies. This creates some inconvenience for hotel staff and the people around them.
Chinese: large groups and always noisy
China travels in large groups. But the main difficulty with Chinese tourists is not their number, but their complete indifference to local laws and regulations. Often, after a visit by a large group of tourists from China, the rooms they stayed in have to be repaired. In addition, no restrictions on photography in some public places, including theatres and galleries, apply to them. The Chinese themselves often see nothing wrong with their actions, but other visitors and travellers, as well as staff, often feel uncomfortable. And that's putting it mildly.
Germans: excessive pedantry and perfectionism
Germany has always been famous for the excessive pedantry of its citizens. Tourists from Germany complain in 99 out of 100 cases if they find even the slightest deviation in the menu or excursion routes. Just as pedantically as they complain, they demand compensation for a ‘spoiled holiday’ from hotels and tour operators.
Russians: scandals, fights, ‘souvenirs from the room’
The reputation of tourists from Russia is pretty tarnished. They are known as lovers of strong alcoholic beverages in unlimited quantities. And this is no longer just a stereotype, but a long-known ‘reality of Russian tourism’ in all corners of the tourist world. After excessive consumption of various alcoholic beverages, they often organise fights in bars or by swimming pools. They take towels, dishes, bedding, and sometimes small furniture from their rooms as souvenirs. They often lose cash, bank cards, documents, and... crypto wallets along with passwords. They then simply forget about them — excessive intoxication takes its toll.
