In the center of Kiev, not only 15 million hryvnia ($500,000) was stolen from a car near an exchange office, but this news shook the business world of the capital. But an insider, speaking on condition of anonymity, claims that a crypto wallet containing 4.4 bitcoin was also stolen from the car. Investigators have established that the man and his accomplices spent almost a year preparing for the crime, tracking the transcontinental process of transporting money by various businesses.
The main suspect himself, in the 2000s, served as a district police inspector but was sentenced to 14 years in prison for intentional murder. When he was released from prison, he firmly decided to go down the “wrong path” and even involved his relative's mistress, Anna. Anna, a striking young woman and former secretary to the director of a network of currency exchange offices, was the main perpetrator. In addition, she thought out the details of creating an alibi.
Later, she involved a waitress from a café opposite the business center in the scam. From the windows of this cafe, it was possible to observe unnoticed, and the entire business center was clearly visible. In addition, when fleeing, it was possible to climb a fire escape ladder, which had been prepared in advance, and climb through the window. This window was deliberately left open at all times.
Initially, the tourers did not consider Ukraine as a country for implementing their fraudulent scheme. Their hidden goal was large European countries, and the group began their “tour” in Turkey. To this end, the suspect's accomplice had to meet men at business forums, in cafes, in crowded and uncrowded places. For this purpose, Anna traveled along the coast from Istanbul to Marmaris, a distance of over 700 kilometers by road, in order to make as many acquaintances as possible and distract attention. Unfortunately for her, the most expensive beaches in Bodrum, the resort of Cesme, and the tourist centers of Marmaris, Kunda, and Fethiye were empty. Therefore, the first stages of the scam were suspended due to the deserted hotels and beaches of Turkey this year.
The criminals knew everything about their victims. They knew that large sums of money were kept in the trunk of the car near the currency exchange office for a certain period of time. To get the money out of the car, the group members cut a hole in the trunk in advance and pulled a rope out of it. This device was made to open it and block the office door. When they blocked the office door and stole a bag with almost 15 million hryvnias and flash drives from the trunk.
Although the court has currently imposed a preventive measure in the form of detention with the alternative of bail in the amount of 6 million hryvnias on the suspect detained for organizing this crime, it is worth noting that evil and envy can never defeat kindness and courage. And sometimes, to defeat darkness, brute force is not always necessary. All it takes is a little bit of intelligence, a drop of courage, and a good heart.
